Visualizing Sea Level Rise in American Samoa
We’re in American Samoa, where sea level is rising faster than anywhere else in the US and almost 3x faster than the global average. In response, engineers, scientists, planners, and community members have worked together to develop a new tool—the American Samoa Sea Level Rise Viewer— to help officials and villages predict and plan for coming sea level changes. We visit the areas most at risk and check out local impacts in villages and at the Pago Pago International Airport and the Port of Pago Pago with local experts and with the Sea level rise viewer builders themselves.
