Sarah Chin is a 2022 Peter J. Rappa Fellow at the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program. As a Rappa Fellow, Sarah will be working under the mentorship of extension agent Katy Hintzen, with guidance from Beth Lenz and Sara Kahanamoku, to support the implementation of more equitable research practices at Hawaiʻi Sea Grant and enhance diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility (DEIJA) efforts.
Sarah earned a Master’s of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy in the spring of 2022 from Columbia University. Sarah was born and raised in a coastal community and has experience working as a scientist in a marine biology laboratory and as a community organizer in an environmental non-profit. She is passionate about using her skills in public administration to advocate for BIPOC communities in scientific spaces.
