Wendy Meguro is an assistant professor in sustainable buildings and community design with a joint appointment in the UH Manoa School of Architecture and the UH Sea Grant College Program. Her research, teaching, and outreach are motivated by the desire to make Hawai’i’s coastal communities exemplars in energy and water efficiency, resiliency, economic success, and social well-being. Her research focuses on high-performance building design and policy, including enabling coastal communities to adapt to the effects of climate change.
Prior to joining UH, Wendy was an associate at Atelier Ten, consulting architecture design and construction teams on energy efficiency, water conservation and reuse, daylighting, visual and thermal comfort, material selection, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and LEED certification. She provided qualitative guidance and technical analyses to inform resource-efficient, comfortable building design. Her wide variety of projects include the DOE Energy Efficient Buildings Hub, the 17-acre Columbia University Manhattanville, and the Rising Currents exhibit at the New York Museum of Modern Art.
Wendy also taught courses at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City including Environmental Technology, Daylighting Workshop, and Design Studio. She is a LEED-Accredited Professional.
