Marine and Coastal Scientists as Artists

The University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program (Hawaiʻi Sea Grant) is delighted to announce its second annual Sci-Art exhibit entitled Marine and Coastal Scientists as Artists at The ARTS at Marks Garage located in Honolulu’s Chinatown Historic District. This exhibit will feature 30 artists who are also marine and coastal science researchers, conservationists, students, and educators at eight different universities and colleges based in Hawaiʻi.

We invite you to join us for our opening night during First Friday on November 3, 2023! Doors open at 6:00 pm at The ARTS at Marks Garage to meet the artists and enjoy light pupus on a first-come, first-served basis, refreshments (cash bar), and live music by Kaipo Perez.

What else is happening in November?

The exhibit will be open from November 3 to 24, Tuesday-Saturday, from 12:00-5:00 pm. Every Monday (November 6, 13, and 20) we will be hosting the Science by the Sea Seminar Series at The ARTS at Marks Garage from 6:00-7:00 pm where Hawaiʻi Sea Grant-funded graduate fellows will share their research.

On the closing night, Friday, November 24, we will have a screening of the Voice of the Sea SMMILE for Marine Mammals episode and talk story with the creators and students of the Summer Marine Mammal Intensive Learning Experience for Hawaiʻi high school students.
