Limu plays a vital role in Hawaiian ecosystems and is a large part of coastal restoration efforts. In support of community partners who are part of these efforts, like Waimanalo Limu Hui, Amelia, as a Pacific Region Aquaculture and Coastal Resource Fellow, will cultivate a limu aquaculture at the Waimanalo Agricultural Center. She will also analyze how different environmental factors affect limu growth and reproduction to improve understanding of the conditions that support successful cultivation in a lab setting.
