Connor Childs measured local fish and otoliths to observe fish population health as a Hawaiʻi Sea Grant undergraduate research assistant. He is interested in coral reef ecosystems especially in island nations to see how they play a role in the wider island ecosystem, local population, and economy. Furthermore, he actively engages in the community to educate locals on the importance of coral reefs for survival on a small island.
