Mylast E. Bilimon, based in Majuro, Marshall Islands, serves with Hawaiʻi Sea Grant, where she supports community-engaged research, outreach, and education focused on coastal and island communities, with particular attention to the Republic of the Marshall Islands. In her role, she works at the intersection of local knowledge, policy, and applied research to strengthen community capacity, promote sustainable resource management, and advance culturally grounded approaches to ocean and coastal resilience and community adaptation. She also coordinates several partners to co-develop a data-driven online sustainability dashboard for RMI Green Growth, modeled after the Aloha+ Challenge framework.
Bilimon has more than nine years of experience teaching at the College of the Marshall Islands, where she served as a Humanities and Marshallese Studies instructor, and later as chairperson of Marshallese Studies. She led the expansion of Marshallese Studies into a degree program and has been actively involved in community events and initiatives, including Lutok Kobban Alele. Her work also includes research and contributions to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), grounded in a commitment to Indigenous knowledge, community engagement, and service to Marshallese communities.
