Cherryle Heu is a data analyst with the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program. Her work focuses on analyzing weather data and developing data products for the Hawaiʻi Mesonet and the Hawaiʻi Climate Data Portal. She also specializes in building web-based tools that make such information more easily available, helping bridge the gap between researchers and the environmental managers who depend on this data for decision-making but may not have ready access to it.
Born and raised on Oʻahu, Cherryle is strongly motivated by a desire to give back to her home state by developing data-driven tools that enable local resilience, environmental management, and extreme weather adaptation. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Global Environmental Science at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, where she discovered her passion for programming and the intersection of coding and atmospheric sciences. She later pursued a master’s degree in environmental management to deepen her expertise and expand her ability to co-produce actionable tools and materials with local partners.
