SURF Project: Assessing water conditions and ecosystem output towards wetland restoration on Oʻahu’s North Shore
Mentors: Carmella Vizza, HPU
Jordan’s project is exploring fish community composition across three different habitats on the North Shore: a loko wai (wetland fishpond), loko loʻi (taro patch), and Waialeʻe’s open water pond. Utilizing minnow traps and fan traps, along with supplemental hook-and-line sampling, we documented species presence and size distribution, and measured water quality across these sites. This project offers insight into how different aquatic habitats support varying fish communities.
