Olivia Boucher is a 2025 Peter J. Rappa Fellow at the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program. As a Rappa Fellow, Olivia is working under the mentorship of Dr. Shellie Habel to explore the use of emerging digital media tools, such as virtual reality, 3-D printing, and projection, for outreach and education on coastal resilience in Hawaiʻi. She will help develop creative and user-friendly ways to engage local groups around the threats and adaptations associated with coastal hazards.
Olivia recently earned her Master of Environmental Management from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management, where her capstone research focused on traditional ecosystem services and graduate student well-being through ʻāina-based volunteering in Heʻeia. She has previously served as an Integrated Resources Intern with Kamehameha Schools and is a Hauʻoli Mau Loa Fellow. Through research, science communication, and public-centered engagement, Olivia is committed to establishing resilient futures for Hawaiʻi’s coastal areas.
