Dr. Ryan Longman serves as the Pacific Islands Climate Adaptation Science Center University Consortium Program Director, implementing all programs defined in the university consortium host agreement. He is also an associate climatologist at the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) and graduate faculty in the Department of Pacific Island Studies at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
Dr. Longman completed his MA and PhD degrees in geography at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa with a focus on weather variability. He has worked as a lecturer within the University of Hawai‘i system, where he has taught numerous classes on shifting weather conditions, water availability, and the environment. He has also conducted research on a wide range of projects related to mapping and attribution of observed weather changes. He currently co-leads the development of the Hawai‘i Climate Data Portal and the Pacific Drought Knowledge Exchange.
Ryan has extensive experience working in the field of weather-related finance and has assisted in the development and delivery of a specialized project preparation training course that has been delivered to hundreds of young professionals from across the Indo-Pacific. He has earned numerous grants to support adaptation work around the world.
