Jasmine Paredes is a 2024 Peter J. Rappa Fellow at the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program. During her fellowship, Jasmine is participating in the “Charting a Path for Conservation Management Education” initiative at the University of Hawaiʻi. Under the guidance of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant assistant director and community engagement expert Dr. Beth Lenz, and in collaboration with the UH Office of Land and Ocean Conservation Futures, Jasmine is addressing a critical gap in conservation education. The goal is to enhance the skills of participants going into conservation management and leadership.
Jasmine holds a Bachelor’s degree in natural resources and environmental management with a specialization in policy and governance. Her field experiences, closely collaborating with community organizations and higher education institutions, inspired Jasmine to pursue further academic endeavors, so she is currently pursuing a Master’s in environmental management at UH Mānoa. Jasmine’s passion for the intersection of policy and community engagement motivates her to seek sustainable solutions and advocate for environmental stewardship. She aims to apply her knowledge to make meaningful contributions within her field and drive impactful change.
