Jonathan Lance is a climate justice specialist with the Hawaiʻi Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission (CCMAC). Partnered with the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program, Jonathan’s role is to ensure that Hawaiʻi’s climate change policies are equitable to disadvantaged and underserved populations across the state, by conducting research, outreach, and making recommendations regarding climate, environmental, and social justice issues.
Over the past 15 years, Jonathan has worked in terrestrial and marine conservation, aquaculture and sustainable agriculture, natural disaster response, and environmental remediation. Jonathan earned a bachelor of science in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a master of science in natural resource management from the University of Hawaiʻi. He enjoys drawing upon diverse experiences to bring a holistic approach to solving environmental justice matters.
