The University of Hawai‘i Sea Grant College Program is proud to present Reef and Shore Fishes of the Hawaiian Islands by award-winning author John E. Randall. The 560-page volume covers the 612 species of fishes found in the Hawaiian Archipelago from the shore to 200 meters depth. It contains 1007 illustrations (944 in color) most of which are the author’s underwater photographs.
Dr. Randall regards this as his finest publication, the result of 47 years of study of the Hawaiian fish fauna. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr. John Randall has had a long and distinguished career as an ichthyologist and is considered the world’s leading authority on the systematic study of coral-reef fishes. He has described 555 new species of reef fishes – more than anyone in history. He currently serves as the Senior Ichthyologist of the Bishop Museum in Honolulu and is also a member of the Graduate Faculty in Zoology of the University of Hawai‘i. He has authored 688 publications in marine zoology, including guidebooks on fishes of the Caribbean Sea, Red Sea, Oman, Maldive Islands, Great Barrier Reef, and islands of the South Pacific.
