Ka Pili Kai Spring 2009

Once again we are thrilled to share with you a glimpse of the
fascinating work being conducted by this year’s University of
Hawai‘i Sea Grant-supported graduate students. As you will
see, these talented individuals are already contributing to the
understanding of some of the most critical issues of our time:
global climate change; tsunami forecasting and modeling;
the health of our coral reefs and reef fish that depend on it for
survival; and research into one of Hawai‘i’s most beloved seasonal
visitors, the humpback whale. In addition, these scientists are
taking their knowledge and experience into classrooms throughout
Hawai‘i to help inspire the next generation of researchers and
also to the heart of Washington D.C. to help shape policy both for
today and for the future.
