Dr. Kaiwipunikauikawēkiu Punihei Lipe is the interim director of the Institute for Hawaiian Language Research and Translation (IHLRT) and also serves as the UH Mānoa Native Hawaiian Affairs Program Officer in the Office of the President. As the interim director of the IHLRT, she oversees operations of the Institute, works on strategic partnerships and development, and helps to connect the translated material to relevant stakeholders. As the Native Hawaiian Affairs Program Officer, she oversees strategic implementation of recommendations to help make UH Mānoa a Hawaiian place of learning. Dr Lipe sees the work that comes of out of IHLRT as a foundational element of her Native Hawaiian Affairs work.
