Climate Adaptation Law and Policy Study

Pacific Services Center, in collaboration with the NOAA Coastal Storms Program, is funding the Hawaii Sea Grant Center of Excellence for Island Climate Adaptation and Policy (ICAP)to develop an adaptation law and policy study and analysis.  ICAP was established to link people with information to support the environmental, social, and economic well being of our coastal communities. ICAP provides interdisciplinary research, policy review and support and legal expertise to decision makers and elected officials at state and local levels involved in climate change adaptation, coastal land use planning, shoreline management, coastal hazard mitigation and natural resource management.

This study will be tied closely to SLR risk and vulnerability study for Hawai’i and will incorporate scientific information generated to assist with developing model draft legislation and policy for local decision-maker consideration.
