Ka Pili Kai Summer 2016

As Professor E. Gordon Grau, retired Hawai‘i Sea Grant director and past  interim director of the UH Water Resources Research Center (WRRC), noted “Water is life. I am not the first person to say this, but it is the basis for all living systems on earth and yet something we take for granted. Throughout the world, and in Hawai‘i in particular, water is a finite resource that we must conserve and protect if we are to sustain life as we know it.” For many, many years Hawai‘i Sea Grant has been stressing the importance of water conservation and management, and Dr. Darren T. Lerner is now leading many of the university’s efforts, both as WRRC interim director and though critical projects including a $20M grant assessing groundwater in Hawai‘i. We invite you to read more about how we are working every day to help perpetuate this critical resource for today and for future generations.
